Welcome to the BURST WIKI

Burst Blue Icon.png

Burst is an open-source decentralized cryptocurrency and blockchain platform that connects people, companies, and financial institutions. It allows you to move value – according to your own rules – within a scalable, green, and customizable ledger.

A key distinction that sets Burst apart from all other cryptocurrencies is its unique Proof-of-Capacity (PoC) algorithm. Burst stands in particular contrast to Proof of Work (PoW) coins, such as Bitcoin, by securing its network with cryptographic hash functions that are computed in advance and retrievable for repeated use in the mining process.

Burst was introduced in August of 2014. It was released publicly with advance notice, without pre-mine, without airdrops, and without an ICO (Initial Coin Offering). Every coin in existence was mined beginning from the genesis block.

Burst's development team, the Burst Apps Team, welcomes you to the Burst Wiki. Below you will find information that is suitable for those who are getting started as well as more technical documentation. You are always welcome to contact the development team through the official Burst Discord channel. Please post any questions that you have and a member of the community or the development team will respond. We hope to see you there soon.
